A rainy Seoul day becomes easier when you choose one indoor anchor and count every uncovered transfer. COEX, a museum district and a jjimjilbang are separate plans, not pieces of one weatherproof corridor. Pick the anchor first, then add only a nearby meal or second indoor stop.

COEX: one building complex, with limits

SEA LIFE COEX Aquarium is inside the mall. Its official help page lists 10:00–20:00, last admission 19:00, and a typical visit of 90 minutes to two hours; conditions can change. Use the official page for tickets and any dated program. Do not assume a show, boat experience or special event is included unless it appears for your date.

Samseong Station and the complex have covered connections, but the route from your hotel, a wrong exit or a later neighborhood transfer can still put you outside. COEX can occupy several hours if you add a meal, library and aquarium; that does not make it a guaranteed full day for every traveler.

A museum or palace district needs its own weather check

Use the institution’s official page for opening and reservation conditions. Gyeongbokgung is primarily an outdoor palace visit, so it should not be described as an indoor rainy-day anchor. Seoul Animation Center programs and locations can change; include it only after confirming the current Seoul municipal listing. On heavy-rain days, prefer a museum with a confirmed reservation over a route that depends on outdoor courtyards.

A jjimjilbang is a separate final stop

Supsok Hanbang Land’s current Seoul listing gives its location, hours and phone. It is not connected underground to COEX. Count the subway ride and the uncovered walk at both ends. General jjimjilbang etiquette applies, but venue-specific facilities and heat-room rules must come from the operator or current official listing. The current VISITKOREA page specifically warns that the highest-temperature room can burn skin and advises socks and cotton gloves there.

What completed rainy-day visits reveal

A family’s completed rainy day at COEX spent just under two hours in the aquarium and still had to manage reservations and mall walking. An independent 2025 aquarium visit found the convenient location useful but the attraction itself mixed, which argues against promising a universal full day. A completed seven-day Seoul report paired the aquarium with food and another neighborhood rather than treating all of Seoul as weatherproof. Together they support one anchor plus a flexible nearby addition.

Rain-exposure calculation, checked October 20, 2026. For a COEX day, allow 20 minutes from platform to the chosen entrance and through the mall, two hours for the aquarium, 90 minutes for a meal and library, and 30 minutes of internal wayfinding buffer: 4 hours 20 minutes. A transfer to Supsok Hanbang Land adds about 75 minutes of conservative subway, interchange and uncovered-walk allowance before venue time. If rain is severe, use one district and drop the cross-city finish.
